Job Profile: Systems Engineer

We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our IT Enterprise Engineering team. In this role, you will work closely with other Systems and Software Engineers to support enterprise IT infrastructure and services. You'll contribute to the provisioning, maintenance, and improvement of systems and services used across the organization, collaborating with the broader team to engineer innovative solutions.

This position primarily focuses on the needs of the Vancouver, WA office and local team. You'll handle ongoing hardware upgrades and service migrations to new systems while supporting local infrastructure and the user community.



Responsibilities:
  • Oversee and maintain a mix of physical and virtual system environments, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
  • Implement regular updates, backups, and system monitoring to uphold infrastructure integrity.
  • Provide support for advanced engineering software tools and applications.
  • Ensure adherence to organizational policies and compliance standards within the local infrastructure.
  • Act as the primary point of support for the local team, addressing technology needs and introducing suitable solutions.
  • Diagnose and resolve infrastructure-related challenges, minimizing downtime and disruptions.
  • Document current systems and processes, creating clear guidelines for operational improvements and future transitions.
  • Lead and contribute to the seamless migration of services to upgraded infrastructure platforms.
  • Design and implement scalable infrastructure solutions in collaboration with cross-functional teams and leadership.
  • Enhance automation efforts by optimizing configuration, templates, and deployments across operating environments.
  • Expand monitoring and alerting systems to ensure proactive issue identification and resolution.
  • Partner with IT teams to guarantee a seamless setup for tools, workflows, and team collaboration.
  • Identify and implement cost-effective technologies to enhance operations while minimizing expenses.
  • Conduct evaluations of emerging technologies and prioritize implementations based on organizational needs.
  • Clearly communicate project timelines, dependencies, and progress to stakeholders, ensuring alignment with business goals.

    Skills & Abilities:
    ● Extensive Linux systems administration and deployment experience in a high demand engineering environment. Comprehensive experience is required, encompassing all aspects of systems management, hardware, virtualization, identity management/authentication, storage and networking. 5+ Years of experience, preferably with Red Hat and Ubuntu.
    ● Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare/vCenter
    ● Experience with Storage Area Networks (SAN).
    ● Technical certifications such as Red Hat, MCP, MCSE or equivalent work experience.
    ● 2+ Years of experience with current Windows Server versions, Active Directory administration, DNS, DHCP, Distributed File Services, Print Services, Group Policy Management, and FSMO roles.
    ● Experience with microservices such as Kubernetes and container technologies
    ● Experience in core infrastructure technologies, including load balancing, auto-scaling, replication, networking, authentication protocols and encryption
    ● Experience with building services on AWS/GCP platforms and On-Premise Virtual/Physical infrastructure
